Reduce running costs and increase the lifespan of your system with Kilfrost products

We offer two products to support air conditioning units and systems: A waterborne corrosion inhibitor pack and a fully formulated heat transfer fluid.

Here's why...

HVAC

Air Conditioning

Air Conditioning Systems frequently use glycol-based loops to regulate the target spaces (office buildings, residential homes and hotels). The designs of such systems should consider not only the need to install the equipment but also the nature and efficiency of any heat transfer fluids employed. Such fluids have a major impact on the lifetime and running cost of the system, which may need to deliver a continuous duty over many years. For example, suitable freeze point and corrosion protection should be incorporated into the product.

Now, you need to choose the right heat transfer fluid for your Air Conditioning system.

Kilfrost’s revolutionary heat transfer fluid technology

Kilfrost’s revolutionary heat transfer fluid technology provides a compelling commercial solution to long-standing challenges faced within the Air Conditioning industry. We offer two products an water-borne inhibitor and heat transfer fluid both suitable to support air conditioning units and systems determined by the operating temperature of the systems.

Air conditioning systems operating at temperatures higher than 5°C using water as the heat transfer medium is acceptable. However, there are a couple of drawbacks which you need to consider. Water is corrosive to metallic components, by adding the Kilfrost SF50 inhibitor into the water you provide protection against corrosion which is tested to and exceeds ASTM D-1384 standard test method for long periods of time.

Avoid corrosion with the SF50 Inhibitor

Kilfrost SF50 Inhibitor is a concentrated water-soluble liquid blend of corrosion inhibitors and pH buffers, designed to provide long lasting protection against corrosion in multi-metal closed circuit water systems, helping to maintain energy efficiency.

The formulation of Kilfrost SF50 Inhibitor is based on modern organic acid technology (OAT) and free from borates, silicates, phosphates, nitrates, heavy metals and harmful amines. Kilfrost SF50 Inhibitor does not contain any CMR substances (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, Reprotoxic). Unlike existing products on the market the proprietary blend of corrosion inhibitors in Kilfrost SF50 Inhibitor work by forming a monolayer on metal surfaces and the formulation is free of gelating silicates, toxic nitrites and mutagenic borates.

The benefits of Kilfrost ALV

Cooling air conditioning systems which are operating at a temperature of 5°C or below will benefit using a heat transfer fluid to prevent freezing. Typically, MEG or MPG based products have been used but both have their drawbacks around toxicity and performance.

Kilfrost engineered the advanced low viscosity range with ALV being the product of choice for this application with benefits including reducing costs, extending the lifespan of the equipment equipment as well as being classified as non-hazardous in accordance with CLP/REACH.

HVAC

Reduce costs with Kilfrost ALV

Kilfrost ALV is an engineered low viscosity fluid which outperforms MEG, MPG, Bio-PDO and ethanol-based heat transfer fluids. The graph below shows that as the temperature decrease Kilfrost ALV fluid remains low in viscosity. How does this help you reduce costs?

As the temperature decreases other products become more viscous and “sluggish”. Kilfrost ALV fluid remains low in viscosity which means less pumping power is required to circulate the fluid around the system and due to this hydraulic efficiency, it will in turn reduce the energy usage for your pump, therefore reducing energy costs.

HVAC

Extend the lifespan of your equipment

Building maintenance and upkeep is a continuous job for all businesses and commercial enterprises, so a little bit of assistance to support the lifespan of the equipment goes a long way. Air Conditioning systems can use water with an inhibitor pack as the heat transfer fluid to circulate around the system but what degree of corrosion protection does this provide for your pipes?

Kilfrost ALV fluid is the product of choice for Air Conditioning systems. It has been tested and exceeds the ASTM D1384-05 corrosion standard at 88°C providing outstanding protection for your equipment and pipework.

Low risk of contamination

Kilfrost ALV fluid can offer you piece of mind as the fluid is a non-toxic and bio-derived fluid, which has been classified as non-hazardous in accordance with CLP/REACH. MEG, MPG, Bio-PDO and ethanol-based heat transfer fluids as well as some inhibitor packs designed to be added to water may contain toxic chemicals.

Why would you choose anything else other than Kilfrost ALV?

Now you have all the information you need to make an informed decision on which heat transfer fluid to use and why, if you require any further help please contact us at info@kilfrost.com
