Northumberland-based Kilfrost has teamed up with French chemical company Gazechim Froid, which is now selling the revolutionary, ALV Plus heat transfer fluid across Europe.
The high-performance ALV Plus will be offered as part of the Gazechim Kimigel range under the name ALV Plus / Kimigel 2+ as an alternative to mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) and mono-propylene glycol (MPG) fluids.
Superior to both, ALV Plus / Kimigel 2+ is designed to increase both the efficiency and safety of low temperature chilling and cooling equipment and circuits, especially those in the food and beverage industry since it is accredited by the NSF and FDA.
The product, which has a lower viscosity profile, can operate at lower temperatures and is non-toxic, has been officially approved by the French Government as part of the partnership.
The product is formulated with bio-derived base fluids listed as GRAS (Generally Recognised As Safe) by the US Food and Drug Administration, as well as rheology modifiers and ASTM D1384-05 proven corrosion inhibitors.
Daniel Borner, Kilfrost Sales Manager, said: “Gazechim can now offer a high performance, non-toxic and low viscosity heat transfer fluid that has been specifically designed to offer greater efficiency levels than MPG based fluids and has the safety and toxicity advantage over MEG based fluids. This gives customers an alternative option to improve their process and potentially save money and energy.
“The fluid is NSF and FDA accredited and is safe to use in the food industry. Because it’s non-toxic, it’s safe in the case of incidental exposure and is better for the environment.
“This partnership and the inclusion of our ALV Plus in their Kimigel product portfolio, offers Gazechim and their customers the benefits of existing fluids but without their disadvantages, which brings advantages to multiple sectors including commercial refrigeration and industrial cooling.”
Kolia Zerguini, Gazechim Froid Business Manager, said: “We need to have a reliable partner with high-quality products and efficient technical support. Gazechim Froid and Kilfrost have the same business aims: offering innovative solutions to their customers and meeting their future expectations.”
