We’re proud that our ongoing sponsorship of a talented young boxer from Northumberland is helping him take a step closer to Olympic victory.
Cyrus Pattinson, a current welterweight who represents both Birtley Amateur Boxing Club and Great Britain, has been sponsored by Kilfrost since October 2013. Last year saw Cyrus achieve a string of successes, including Gold at the Feliks Stamm Tournament in Poland, and selection for Olympic qualification in Turkey.
Cyrus said: “I can’t thank the Kilfrost team enough for their continued support over the past few years, which has not only helped my boxing career but also transformed my life. Following a challenging childhood, I developed a passion for boxing and was given a wonderful opportunity to work for the Duchess of Northumberland at The Alnwick Garden to help fund my early training.
“However, combining six days a week of training with a full time job was both physically and mentally exhausting, and so having this financial backing is absolutely invaluable and has meant that I’ve been able to focus solely on the sport that I love.”
Cyrus is currently working towards success in the European, Commonwealth and World Championships, ahead of his participation in the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.
Gary Lydiate, Chief Executive of Kilfrost, commented: “We are delighted that our sponsorship of such a gifted sportsman as Cyrus has seen him achieve fantastic successes in his career so far, and we are very much looking forward to continuing our support of him as he looks to turn professional over the next few years and beyond.”
