KILFROST SECURES CERTIFICATE OF ACCEPTANCE FOR RAIL PLUS ANTI-ICING PRODUCT FROM NETWORK RAIL

Published on: Thursday 24th November 2011

Kilfrost, the global leader in de/anti-icing solutions has announced that its anti-icing product, Kilfrost Rail Plus has been approved by Network Rail for use on the network in the south of England and Merseyside, where the third rail is used to power trains.

After successfully testing the product on the Wessex route last year, Network Rail has issued a Certificate of Acceptance and Kilfrost Rail Plus will now be rolled out across other routes this year. Stock has already been delivered in preparation for winter. Kilfrost Rail Plus is a specially formulated anti-icing fluid that prevents ice from forming on railway tracks. It offers high-performance protection and will help trains to run in temperatures of -13 degrees Fahrenheit (-25 degrees Celsius) and below. It can be sprayed directly onto surfaces with minimal foaming, making it extremely safe and easy to use.

Kilfrost Rail Plus actively protects the track and other metal infrastructure from deterioration and corrosion. It is water-based, biodegradable and non-toxic and therefore environmentally friendly, while offering excellent resistance to hail, snow and rain.

Gary Lydiate, CEO, Kilfrost comments: "As global leaders, we know that when cold weather hits, the need to protect electrified third rails from damage and impairment is vital, which is why we developed Kilfrost Rail Plus. We are extremely pleased to have the product tested and accepted for use by Network Rail and to have delivered our first orders.”

For over 75 years Kilfrost has led the global de/anti-icing market and is proud to work closely with customers in over 63 countries and five continents.
