KILFROST PRODUCT LAUNCH TO CHANGE FACE OF WINTER SAFETY PLANNING

Archived on: Thursday 18th August 2011

A recently launched new product is set to revolutionise the way public areas are kept safe from snow and ice, by allowing local authorities and private companies to prepare for the worst in good time.

North East-based Kilfrost has developed its innovative Ice Melt products as vital tools in the fight against winter weather related accidents. "Preparing for the worst is always good health and safety practice, but when it comes to winter safety in the past it's often been the case that public areas can only be treated after snow or ice has formed” explained Kilfrost's Chief Executive Gary Lydiate.

"Not only does this put pressure on the teams on the ground, but it leaves a window of opportunity for accidents to happen. Now, thanks to the launch of Ice Melt, it's possible to prepare public areas like walkways, bridges, playgrounds and car parks to make sure that pedestrians, students, shoppers and other members of the public are kept safe straight away” he added.

The Ice Melt product has been developed following over 75 years experience in pioneering specialist de-icing and anti-icing fluids for the aviation and rail sectors across the world. "Kilfrost are global leaders and are proud to continually invest in research and development to make sure that our products are the very best, most efficient and cost effective as possible” explained Gary.

Ice Melt is a clean formulation product which is completely soluble so avoids the messy residue left behind by traditional rock salt. Fully biodegradable, the product is not harmful to humans, animals or vegetation, making it ideal for sensitive settings like hospitals and schools. It's also significantly less corrosive than rock salt so can be applied near metal – a factor which is already proving popular across the rail industry in particular.

Designed for the ultimate ease of application, Kilfrost Ice Melt is available in three formulations– granules, pellets and liquid – to suits every client's needs. All super-fast performance, they offer excellent coverage and proven efficiency.

For over 75 years Kilfrost has led the global de/anti-icing sector and is proud to work closely with customers in over 50 countries and five continents. With facilities in the UK, Europe, North America and Japan, Kilfrost is able to deliver its safety critical products to the Aviation, General Aviation, Rail, Functional Fluids and Ground De-icing sectors. Its world-renowned R&D facility continues to develop groundbreaking new products, and the company is continuing to invest heavily in the innovation of ever-more environmentally-friendly de/anti-icing solutions.
