Kilfrost BTB is an antifreeze used on rolling stock pneumatic systems. BTB is a low viscosity Propylene Glycol based fluid designed for use as an antifreeze to take up moisture from compressed air where freezing could result in the damage or failure of air powered machinery.
Approved for use by British Rail under catalogue number 7/29215 Kilfrost
BTB has been used for over 20 years as a non hazardous replacement for
alcohols in the air braking systems of railway carriages. Other typical uses
for it range from diaphragm pumps to impact moling hammers.
Safe to use
Kilfrost BTB is supplied ready to use and is added to the airline using
a standard mist feed lubricator. It should not be mixed with other
products as this will interfere with the water absorption.
Kilfrost BTB is a synthetic lubricant based on Monopropylene Glycol
which means it is non-hazardous and fully biodegradable.
